Human Farm Investigation Settings and Run Mode

Enable faster movement and tune language, audio, and display before Day 1 ends.

Last updated:

Open the options menu first

Press X or Esc to open the main menu, then select Options (label may vary slightly by language). Settings apply to the active save profile and usually persist globally on the same machine. Change these before you waste in-game hours walking across the Underground Farm or returning from City Locations.

This page focuses on run mode and other high-impact toggles. Default keyboard access is covered in Keyboard Controls.

Run mode — enable immediately

Run mode increases Iori’s movement speed on field maps. It is off by default, which causes new players to miss time-sensitive evening scenes documented in How to Unlock Scenes and City Quests.

Steps:

  1. Open menu with X or Esc
  2. Enter Options
  3. Locate the run / dash toggle (English builds label it “Always Dash” or similar)
  4. Turn it On
  5. Close menu and test movement on a long corridor

There is typically no separate sprint key — once enabled, all movement uses the faster speed. Disabling run is only useful for precision puzzle tiles, which Investigation rarely uses.

If you share clips online, mention run mode when advising beginners — it is the top fix in Beginner Tips.

Language settings

Steam lists English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. In-game text generally follows the Steam client language unless an override exists in options.

Switch language before starting a dedicated NG+ route if you compare translations for flag-sensitive dialogue. The wiki English content assumes the English Steam locale.

Display and window mode

Options usually include:

  • Fullscreen vs windowed — windowed helps wiki checklists on second monitor
  • Resolution — match desktop to avoid scaling blur
  • Smoothing / vsync — preference only; does not affect flags

RPG Maker titles sometimes flicker on exclusive fullscreen when alt-tabbing during Scene Checklist sessions — windowed mode reduces risk.

Audio sliders

BGM, SE, and voice sliders (if present) help during repeated gallery replay from the scene unlocker — see Cheats and Unlockers. Muting does not affect gameplay flags.

Cheat and unlocker access

The same menu tree may expose cheat options for action segments and the scene gallery unlocker. Enabling cheats does not automatically unlock endings — read How to Get Endings before assuming otherwise.

Recommended policy:

  • First story run — cheats off
  • Gallery cleanup — cheats on if you accept achievement trade-offs from Achievements

Save / load from menu

Save slots live in the main menu, not always inside Options. Label saves by day per Beginner Tips before toggling major settings mid-route.

Loading an older save after changing language is safe; loading after enabling unlocker cheats may not retroactively set story flags.

Restore patch interaction

The official restore patch from 072 Project modifies game assets, not these menu toggles. Install patch before hunting censored gallery entries — Official Patch and Patch Install Helper — then verify options still open normally.

Story first-timer

  • Run mode ON
  • Cheats OFF
  • Language locked for whole run
  • Windowed if using wiki on second screen

Completionist / scene hunter

  • Run mode ON
  • Cheats ON only after first clear
  • Extra save slots before raid nights — True Ending Checklist

Demo player upgrading to full game

  • Re-check run mode on new full save — demo settings may carry over but saves do not — Demo Day 1

Troubleshooting

Run toggle missing — update to latest Steam build; verify integrity of game files.

Settings reset each launch — check Windows permissions on save/config directory.

Options menu crash — disable overlay software; report with log to publisher.

Run mode is not optional for comfortable play — enable it in the first five minutes, then forget about movement friction forever.
