Human Farm Investigation Demo Day 1 — Free Steam Trial

What the trial includes, where it stops, and how to use it as a tutorial.

What the Steam demo includes

072 Project shipped a free demo for Human Farm : Investigation : alongside the August 7, 2026 full release on Steam app 3953160. The demo is intentionally narrow: it covers Day 1 only of Iori’s undercover assignment. You can experience core movement, introductory farm tasks, early dialogue with key cast members, and a slice of the farm RPG systems that define the series’ third entry.

What the demo does not include: city quest chains beyond teasers, the full thirty-four story event roster, five-plus endings, achievements, the complete underground farm map, or post-Day-1 police debrief branches. Treat the demo as a mechanical and tonal preview, not a progress carry-over.

Before you download

Confirm platform and language support on the store page. Steam lists English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. The demo uses the same control scheme as the full game — arrow keys to move, Z or Enter to interact, X or Esc for menus. Enable run mode immediately; see Settings and Run Mode.

Read Keyboard Controls if you are new to RPG Maker-style PC ports. Remember that mouse clicks will not open doors; stand facing the door tile and press Z or Enter.

Day 1 structure walkthrough

Day 1 in the demo mirrors the opening day of the full campaign. Use this sequence to extract maximum learning value without spoiling later routes:

Arrival and cover establishment. Iori enters the underground farm posing as new help. Pay attention to NPC names — Maria, the Boss pastry chef, Aina, and Karen appear early. Note where the cafe hub connects to worker dorms because that layout persists in the full game (Cafe Hub, Underground Farm).

Tutorial farm tasks. You will be asked to perform basic farm labor tied to the farm RPG loop. Completing tasks on time keeps suspicion low in the full game; the demo may not expose every meter but habits matter. Compare with How to Play for the long-term daily loop.

First investigative prompts. Tsubaki and police channels may contact you with light guidance. In the full release, similar prompts evolve into City Quests — the demo usually hints at topside travel without granting access.

Evening window. Day 1’s night segment introduces how time gates work. Missing a window by wandering without run mode enabled is a common demo frustration — enable running before you explore.

Hard stop. When credits or a purchase prompt appear, the demo ends. Saves from the demo do not transfer to the paid app. You will restart Day 1 on a fresh full-game save.

Should you buy after the demo?

Use Day 1 to answer three personal questions:

  1. Comfort with theme and tone — undercover policing inside an illegal farm with mature themes. Should You Buy discusses audience fit without repeating store descriptions.
  2. Tolerance for RPG Maker pacing — exploration, repeat farm shifts, and calendar discipline. If Day 1 felt too slow, read Beginner Tips before judging the full game — run mode and quest prioritization change pacing dramatically.
  3. Interest in series continuity — Investigation follows Rehabilitation and Practice Section. Series Comparison explains what carries over thematically (nothing mechanically).

If you proceed, start a new full save even if Day 1 felt familiar — flag timing in later days does not account for demo experimentation.

Transferable skills from demo to full game

Even without save transfer, demo players should retain:

  • Door interaction using keyboard confirm
  • Run mode enabled from menus
  • Farm task completion before evening events
  • Note-taking on NPC locations for later Scene Checklist use

When the full game opens city travel, immediately read City Quests — new players who rush the farm alone often miss investigation flags that soft-lock endings.

Known demo limitations and bugs

Because the demo is a trimmed build, occasional issues differ from the full release:

  • Gallery and cheat menus may be absent or disabled
  • Some UI labels reference content not present in the demo build
  • Patch installers target the full Steam depot — do not apply Official Patch to demo-only installs

Report demo-specific crashes through Steam; use the full game version number when asking about mechanics on community forums.

Next steps after the demo

The demo exists to teach Day 1 discipline, not to complete the wiki. Use it as a free tutorial, then restart fresh when you commit to Iori’s full investigation.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Does demo progress carry over?

No. Full game saves start Day 1 again on a new file.

Can I see all endings in the demo?

No. Endings require the full campaign — see [How to Get Endings](/guides/how-to-get-endings/).

Is the demo censored compared to the full game?

It is truncated, not a separate route. Steam cut rules still apply until you install the official restore patch on the full release.

Should I enable cheats in the demo?

Demo builds may not expose cheat menus. In the full game, see [Cheats and Unlockers](/systems/cheats-and-unlockers/).
